I have a 40th birthday in St Bart’s this month and I feel incredibly lost about my style and what to pack. Since having my children my wardrobe has shifted and I just don’t have time to figure out what to wear for some glamorous evenings there! I really want to invest in some forever pieces that I can use every summer and also style up some existing daytime dresses I have. What would you recommend?
I meet so many postpartum mothers who feel lost in their style, especially when big events arise. All it takes is a little editing to remaster their style and implement some wardrobe strategies. In this instance, it’s a fairly stylised trip with beach club days and dressier evening dinners and parties. There’s a reason St Bart’s is known as the St Tropez of the Caribbean and who else to take inspiration from then Bianca Jagger, Queen of Studio 54 in the '70s with her penchant for Yves Saint Laurent and Halston one-shoulder gowns that made her a style icon. Lots of the trends Bianca wore overlap this SS24 - stunning liquid gold dresses, asymmetric cuts and crisp white poplin cotton. For day, I would stick to a simple monochrome palette - I personally love white embroidered cotton (a big trend for this season) alongside really great swimwear and classic accessories. For night, simple one-shoulder shapes in rich jewel tones and architectural heels make for easy on-trend packing. A few well chosen accessories and you’re ready to jet-set!
