My paid subscribers have been awfully patient with me of late. I get so many DMs re styling questions and I try to answer thoughtfully (many of them have had private styling sessions with me which helps!) but I realised there was a general theme: what to wear trousers/skirt wise in warm weather? It seems we’re all searching for that elusive summer trouser or skirt that will help complete our summer wardrobes. Many of you discuss the fact that you don’t have time or the expense to dry-clean (understandable) need something robust for everyday work-life (silks are out) and don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for good finds.

With this in mind, I’ve edited down some pieces that should help!

BACK TO BLACK

Firstly, a summer trouser should translate easily from office to city drinks and beyond. Joseph has the Mawn Pleat Jacquard trouser which is a high viscose-silk mix. While it states dry clean, in my experience you can easily hand-wash these yourself with that fabrication. A little bit Issey but with a matching pleat jacket and blouse too this is a summer suit you can pull off for office environments while feeling chic in the heat.

Black is an essential summer neutral and these black Olina Linen pants by Reformation are cut perfectly for warmer climes. The linen weight is good and the length is super long (great for my tall subs!) but if you’re below 5ft7 you’ll want to get them hemmed. They’re cut with a very gentle bias which allows for a leg lengthening shape with a puddle hem. Wear with striped shirts for day or a structured linen waistcoat for work. I also love the ‘Dune’ gingham-check print - highly wearable
