Hi friends! Just a quick note that Glastonbury styling Part 2 will land next Thursday - too many wonderful finds to edit! I’m off on hols today so I’ll be back with Ask A Stylist on Thursday!
It’s officially warm and we’re all (hopefully!) off on our summer holidays soon. It’s beautifully sunny in green England today and I’m dreaming of Ibizan beaches and long summer swims in the med. I also don’t want to spend time hunting for dreamy summer pieces to wear in the heat this year (who has the time?!) so here are my picks; from shorts to sandals and all the added extras that make packing for holiday that bit less time consuming.
The Black One Piece
Keep it simple! A black swimsuit is just the best packable piece because it can easily double as a top with denim shorts or linen trousers and if you invest in a great fabric blend, you’re sorted for years to come. I’ve worn the HUNZA G for a few years now and it’s a real staple because of its classic shape and ability to contour. Cut-outs are on trend this summer but you want to pick something with a subtle design that is wearable for years to come. A quick browse of the high-street and I was floored to see so many extreme cut-outs that wouldn’t work on any body shape. If you want to buy a swimsuit that will last the next decade, these are your best bet.
This one is selling fast and for good reason. Anine Bing’s Roux swimsuit is well designed and the higher cut with thicker strap is exceptionally flattering.
Part of Net’s sustain collection this HUNZA G one piece seersucker swimsuit is a classic basic. Very deep cut back, thick straps which I think are very flattering.
Eres Les Essentiels Cassiopée bandeau swimsuit is extortionate (always buy on sale) but if you’re feeling less than body confident, this is the one to go for. You can’t help but feel a million bucks in it. It’s unbelievably flattering and a piece for life.
(Sorry!) another Eres piece but this time in collaboration with Chloe. This cut out embellished swimsuit looks like a bikini from the back but the sculptural details make it a forever piece too. I would style with a low slung midi skirt, very Chloe.
If your shoulders are your best asset please invest in this stunning Alina one piece. Clever cut outs mean this has far more coverage than first appears. I also love this All Saints cut out that has more of a bikini feel about it.
Short Shorts And More Shorts
Don’t judge the frankly (terrible) styling of these e-commerce images, these are tried and tested shorts. From denim to linen, these are the only two fabrics you need on a warm holiday. A gentle A-line is flattering on most body types (do remember you can tailor shorts though!) Printed shorts are a wild card but I love these well-cut gingham linen shorts and the dip-dyed look of these Levis - read more for my styling tips - including taking a pair of kitchen scissors to those hems……
